At Last They Kiss!

"Erinsborough News", BBCi, July 2004

Odd couple, Serena Bishop and Scott Timmins, come from two completely different worlds. Serena is a spoilt princess, while Scott comes from the wrong side of the tracks. Much to Lil and David's dismay, Scott and Serena's differences have actually caused them to be attracted to each other, and at last they will make it official.

Scott and Serena finally call each other boyfriend and girlfriend and seal their newly formed bond with a passionate kiss.

Ben Nicholas, who plays Scott described how this touching moment came about.

"The first time that Scott kisses Serena properly is at the Kennedy house," said Ben. "The scene is after he has found out that Toadie has disappeared and he's pretty upset. Toadie is the only one that has been there for him and is the only one that has given him some sort of stability. So, Scott's pretty emotional and blames himself for not knowing where Toadie is. Serena is there to look after Scott and to be his rock and then they officially say that they're boyfriend and girlfriend. Then they kiss."

When asked whether kissing in front a studio full of people was difficult to do, Ben answered,

"It was fine. There were two other scenes where we had a bit of a peck, so we'd kind of did it before. Also, Bish, who is the Drama Coach here, made us kiss before we did the scene so that we were used to doing it," said Ben. "We weren't embarrassed and it was fine. Some of the crew has been working here for fifteen years, so they have seen couple in and couple out doing the big kiss, so they don't think twice about it. They're all cool about it."

According to Ben, this was his first official onscreen kiss.

"That was my first kiss on TV and stage, but it was fine," he laughed.

Ben will definitely be able to look forward to more onscreen kisses in the future.
